The Norman Parathyroid Center is part of the world’s largest endocrine surgery practice. We perform parathyroid surgery only, but we are part of a large group of surgeons who also specialize in surgery of the thyroid and adrenal glands as well. We practice exclusively at the brand-new Hospital for Endocrine Surgery, a full-service hospital dedicated to the surgical treatment of tumors and cancers of the thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal glands. As a group we have performed over 50,000 parathyroid operations, over 30,000 thyroid operations, and over 2500 adrenal operations--more than 10 times the experience of any other US hospital or university. Our surgeons are recognized as the highest level of experts worldwide.
Four Centers of Excellence Unite at the new Hospital for Endocrine Surgery to Become World’s Highest Volume Endocrine Surgery Practice
The world class surgeons of the Norman Parathyroid Center, the Clayman Thyroid Center, the Scarless Thyroid Surgery Center and the Carling Adrenal Center united under one roof in 2022 at the state-of-the-art Hospital for Endocrine Surgery (more on that below). Within just 12 weeks of its opening, the surgeons performed their 1,000th endocrine surgery in the facility. and will perform more than 5000 thyroid, parathyoid, and adrenal tumor and cancer operations in 2022.
The parathyroid surgeons perform parathyroid surgery exclusively and the thyroid surgeons perform thyroid surgery exclusively. This extreme specialization provides the highest cure rates in the world--and if any patient needs the expertise of another world-leading surgeon, they are right down the hall. We work as a team to provide the ultimate in surgical care.

Operating Exclusively at the Hospital for Endocrine Surgery
The Hospital for Endocrine Surgery is a first-of-its-kind facility which opened in Tampa, Florida on January 3, 2022. The only hospital in the world dedicated to thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal cancers and tumors, this brand-new facility is a 75,000 sq. ft. campus of HCA South Tampa Hospital.
The Hospital for Endocrine Surgery will offer endocrinologists and other physicians a single center where they can refer their patients with endocrine tumors of the thyroid, parathyroid, and adrenal glands for surgery, regardless of the complexity.
The Hospital for Endocrine Surgery offers a multi-disciplinary surgical staff with expertise in treating patients with endocrine tumors of the thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal glands, regardless of the complexity. With close proximity to Tampa International Airport, the program attracts patients from across the state, nation and even internationally for inpatient and outpatient procedures. In fact, the hospital sees about 50% of patients from outside the state of Florida and 10% of patients from outside the US.
The hospital features beautifully appointed private patient rooms and eight ultra-modern operating rooms. Significant infrastructure upgrades support specialized thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal surgery, including radiology, nuclear medicine, laboratory, and pathology – all with an emphasis on endocrine tumor diagnosis and treatment. Advanced treatments such as radiofrequency ablation (RFA) of thyroid tumors, minimally invasive scarless robotic thyroid surgery and single visit adrenal vein sampling and curative surgery will be offered.
